“The Ranch Hand Festival Steamroller Prints” presented by the Art Department, Jan. 30 – Apr. 7

The South Texas College Art Department presents “The Ranch Hand Festival Steamroller Prints,” an art exhibition organized by Texas A&M University-Kingsville Department of Art, Communications and Theatre, in partnership with the College of Engineering and the City of Kingsville. The exhibit opens Monday, January 30, and will be available to view Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until April 7, 2017 at the Art Building Gallery located in B–103 on the Pecan Campus. Starr County’s Got Talent 10 becomes sold out event

Starr County’s Got Talent 10 Showcase of Champions was a rousing success. The event, hosted by the Starr County Campus Psychology Club at South Texas College was held on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, and was completely sold out. More than 240 people attended, and raised over $900 from admission fees to benefit the annual $1,000 Starr Psych Club Scholarship. The champions from the previous 9 editions of Starr County Got Talent shows were also invited to showcase their talent, and included singers, dancers, dance groups, duets, and musicians. STC Commencement ceremonies to be held Dec. 17

South Texas College will confer more than 2,000 degrees during its December commencement ceremonies on Saturday Dec. 17. Graduation will take place at the State Farm Arena. The ceremony for Business and Technology and students receiving Bachelor’s degrees will take place at 10 a.m. The afternoon commencement for Liberal Arts will take place at 2 p.m. Graduating students are advised to pick up their cap and gown in Building K 2.402 at STC’s Pecan Campus. South Texas College will host a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony for its $24MM Starr County Campus expansion, Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. The new construction at the campus located at FM 3167, will include an expanded Student Services Activities building, a new library, and a brand-new Health Professions Science Center. To be successful, Carlet Mokom believes that a student has to put a set of feet in their dreams. Originally from east Africa, Carlet moved to the Valley more than three years ago after attending the University of Yaounde I in Cameroon.
