South Texas College student Luke Salas is a co-founder of the new Muve Music Summer Concert Series coming to McAllen starting June 10. The McAllen Convention Center Oval Park will be the center of the free music and arts event, which also includes scheduled events for July 8 and August 12. Each concert takes place from 5 to 11 p.m.
“It’s a free, family-friendly outdoor event that is intended to provide a relaxing way to take in the best art and entertainment the Valley has to offer, while giving everyone a reason to go outside and enjoy the fresh air,” explained Salas. “We are so excited because the series will feature more than 50 acts performing on three stages.”
The summer concert will feature a cornucopia of different musical genres for attendees to enjoy. The founders of the event wanted the community to have a chance to listen to the different types of musical talent the Valley has to offer.
“We want this summer music series to be comfortable and relaxing, so we are encouraging the community to bring blankets, chairs, their pets and their friends to experience the multiple genres of music and art the Valley has to offer,” said Drew Lentz, event co-founder.
In addition to live music, there will also be a Vendor and Artisan Marketplace featuring handcrafted and unique items.
“We know this is a great forum to showcase the local talent we have in the region,” Salas concluded. “There are so many great bands, musicians and artisans in the Valley. There will be something terrific for every attendee to enjoy.”
Attendance to the event is free of charge, but advanced registration is requested. To register visit www.mcallensummer.com or stop by any Cricket Wireless Store. South Texas College is one of many sponsors for the innovative new concert series.
