Pecan, Mid-Valley campuses open till midnight Aug. 12 for fall registration

South Texas College will host its fifth annual Registration Rave at its Pecan Campus located at 3201 West Pecan Blvd. in McAllen and Mid-Valley Campus located at 400 North Border in Weslaco on Friday, Aug. 12 from 8 a.m. to midnight.

Students will be able to register for fall 2011 classes. Registration, payment and student services will be available for 16 hours straight to help students through the process of preparing for the fall session, which starts on Aug. 29. Staff will be on hand to provide information about Pell Grants and STC’s new expanded tuition payment options including emergency loans for textbooks.

Attendees can pay for a new parking permit for the academic year. All students, faculty and staff will be required to pay $25 per permit, with a unique permit required for each vehicle. Representatives from the Student Life Office will also be available to answer questions about college life and activities at STC.

Faculty and staff from STC’s Bachelor’s Program will be on hand to provide information on the college’s new Bachelor of Applied Technology in Medical and Health Services Management. The program is currently registering students for its first cohort for the fall semester.

“We understand that it’s not always convenient to come to one of our campuses during our normal business hours or on weekends and that’s why we are staying open late on Aug. 12,” said William Serrata, STC vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. “We are making it easier than ever to take the first step to change your life.”

And for those with a hectic schedule who need access to classes anywhere at any time, STC’s Registration Rave provides a great opportunity to sign up for classes through the college’s new eSTC Virtual Campus. eSTC gives students access to more than 500 online course sections, library services, admissions, advising, payment services, financial aid, bookstore, testing, career counseling and so much more. eSTC students will rarely, if ever, have to set foot on a traditional STC campus to earn one of 15 degrees and five certificates available to earn all online.
