Experts from across the Rio Grande Valley came together on March 25 for the Construction Technology Expo at theSouth Texas College Technology Campus. The community event was sponsored by the Design & Building Technologies Department and featured seminars, presentations, local and national vendors, and supply houses.
Attendees had the opportunity to network with and learn from professionals in fields including computer-aided drafting and design, electrician technology, HVAC/R and construction supervision. Tours and demonstrations also gave attendees a look at the latest equipment and practices.
“At the expo, we were able to go more in-depth into some of the concepts we learned in class,” said Joe Botello, HVAC/R student at STC. “For instance, we attended a presentation by Airguard and learned what type and size of filters to use for different residential projects.”
“Students have come up to interact with us and learn new things about the field of architecture,” added John Gates of Boultinghouse Simpson Gates Architects. “I’ve been able to teach them about the shift from modelling design to digital design among other things.”
