South Texas College’s Starr County Campus Library Art Gallery presents “Modern Condition,” an exhibit featuring artworks by Travis Trapp. The exhibit opens Thursday, Feb. 21 and will be on view through Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Starr County Campus Library Art Gallery, located at 142 FM 3167 in Rio Grande City. Art exhibit kicks off STC’s Black History Month events

South Texas College’s Pecan Campus Library proudly presents “The Easter Drawings,” an exhibit featuring artworks by Lenard Brown. The exhibit, part of STC’s Black History Month events, opens Thursday, Feb. 7 with an opening reception from 6 - 8 pm. Lectures on Nov. 17 at STC explore art as a global unifier

South Texas College’s Visual Arts and Music Department will host art lectures with Lee Pembleton on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the college’ Pecan Campus Building B Art Gallery located at 3201 West Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. The South Texas College English Department will host poet and artist tandem Steven and Reefka Schneider, co-authors of  Borderlines: Drawing Border Lives.” They will give a reading and presentation on April 5 at 4 p.m. at the college’s Pecan Campus Building D Auditorium located at 3201 West Pecan Blvd. Admission is free and open to the public. STC’s Mid-Valley Photo Club celebrates a picture perfect year

Members of STC’s Mid-Valley Campus Photography Club have been busy raising money for causes important to them one image at a time. In February, they led an effort to raise money for the American Heart Association by selling photos to commemorate Valentine’s Day. The results were better than they had initially expected, and they were able to gather a total of $1,000. The club donated $200 of that to the American Heart Association, and the rest was divided amongst the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Diabetes Association, Estrella House in Edinburg and “Interstice,” STC’s … Read More …

The self-guided tour of art galleries and art in one of the oldest areas of McAllen takes place the first Friday of every month, and it is held from September to May of each year. The goal of the event is to highlight the unique artistry of local residents and promote art and culture in the region.
