South Texas College’s Theatre Program begins its spring season with Moss Hart and George S. Children’s play “Wiley and the Hairy Man” June 23 to 26 at Pecan Campus

With a swamp, magic conjuring and a hound dog, it’s a show that has been delighting children of all ages. And now, Suzan Zeder's “Wiley and the Hairy Man” is coming to South Texas College’s Cooper Center for Communication Arts. Produced by the students, faculty and friends of the college’s Drama Department, the play tells the story of a young fatherless boy named Wiley, his conjure woman Mammy, his faithful hound dog, and the Hairy Man who terrorizes him day and night. South Texas College Theatre would like to invite all to auditions for the Summer Main Stage Children's Theatre Production at the Cooper Center. The play is “Wiley and the Hairy Man,” a drama by Suzan Zeder and is directed by Joel Jason Rodriguez. The group is holding auditions May 16 and 17, with call backs on May 18 at STC’s Pecan Campus Black Box Theatre at the Cooper Center for Communication Arts located at 3201 West Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. Coming soon, South Texas College’s South Texas Players is set to perform “BLUR,” a dramatic comedy by Melanie Marnich. “Dave DaVinci Saves the Universe”  highlights the story of a famous scientist working against the clock to invent the only thing that can save his daughter’s life and marriage – a time machine.
