On Tuesday, April 18th, the Dual2Degree Department will be hosting its 4th Annual Dual Credit Update at the South Texas College Cooper Center from 8:30 am to 12pm.  The annual convening will provide school district administrators and staff with information relating to institutional initiatives designed to improve student success. The Information Technology Program at South Texas College will be hosting its 6th annual IT Career Expo on April 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at its Technology Campus Atrium. The Expo has been created to promote the program and career choices available within the IT industry in the Rio Grande Valley. On Thursday March 20, the Starr County Campus Psychology Club of South Texas College hosted its 8th Starr County Mental Health Awareness Conference at the STC Auditorium in Rio Grande City.  Milton Gonzalez presented “Thinking for a Change” elaborating on the importance of positive thinking and believing in oneself in order to become successful. South Texas College announces the recipients of the Gloria Fitch Scholarship

South Texas College has announced the recipients of the Gloria Fitch Scholarship, who were each presented with a certificate and awarded $1,000 for the 2016-2017 school year. STC Accounting Department provides VITA assistance

During the month of February and March, the Accounting Department through the VITA program has completed over 300 tax returns, saving the taxpayers roughly $30,000, with total taxpayer refunds of over $700,000. All this is done with 6 student volunteers, 1 lead faculty, and 3 faculty volunteers. Since 2011, the Accounting Department at South Texas College has been providing Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to the community.
