Faculty at STC say Sanobia-Ashley Bogle brings a wealth of life experience to the classroom that inspires her peers to achieve more in their pursuit of an education. Ira Juarez believes a positive mindset sets a strong example for her family and herself. It has helped her despite being out of high school for a year and half to obtain her residency.  In the beginning, Ira was nervous about returning to school or even wanting to go to college. Study Abroad Students receive a national scholarship to study in Spain

Eleven students from the World Language Department at South Texas College have received the Benjamin A.Gilman International Scholarship. The scholarship will be used to study abroad or intern abroad in Spain during the 2017-2018 academic year. The STC Study Abroad Program continues to empower students throughout their study abroad experience. The program internationalizes a curriculum while helping students grow personally, academically, and professionally. Student of the Week: Esmeralda Mendez

Inspired by her mother, who returned to college later in life to pursue a better life for her family, Esmeralda Mendez says she was introduced to hard work at an early age. Recalling the late nights when she would often fall asleep on the kitchen table studying with her mother, that experience gave her the insight into the mindset needed to eventually finish college, she said.
