South Texas College students receive Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad

Two South Texas College students have been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad for the summer of 2018. STC’s Richard Villarreal and Yesenia Serrato were selected to receive the scholarship in the amount of $3,500 and $3,000. The scholarship will cover program expenses to study in Spain in collaboration with the Universidad de Salamanca. College leverages partnerships with school districts to instill college-going culture   Growing up, Chelsey Sandoval recalls her first glimpse into a prospective nursing career while caring for her grandfather. The Department of Psychological Science at South Texas College is pleased to offer its majors scholarship opportunities that enable them to pursue their career goals.  A $500 scholarship wholly funded by psychological science faculty was awarded to Courtney LoGiudice and Judith Fausto for spring 2018. South Texas College receives grant for Competency-Based Bachelor Program

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) awarded South Texas College the Lumina Foundation Grant in the amount of  $10,000. SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in southern states including Texas. The grant is intended to advance South Texas College’s efforts to provide Competency–Based Education (CBE) baccalaureate programs for students.
