STC hosts 8th annual Starr County Mental Health Awareness Conference

On Thursday March 20, the Starr County Campus Psychology Club of South Texas College hosted its 8th Starr County Mental Health Awareness Conference at the STC Auditorium in Rio Grande City. 
Milton Gonzalez presented “Thinking for a Change” elaborating on the importance of positive thinking and believing in oneself in order to become successful. Gonzalez is a member of John Maxwell Team and TEDx Presenter, in addition to a licensed leadership coach and motivational teacher. He possesses a strong background in clinical psychology and education, and as an ordained pastor, performs premarital and marital counseling.
Milton is the Headmaster at a local private Christian school in the Valley. He is committed to developing leaders of excellence and integrity by providing the finest resources and training for personal and professional growth. 
Overall, the event was motivating and uplifting, and was open to all STC students and the community, free of charge.
Over 100 people were in attendance including STC Starr County Campus Administrator Dr. Arturo Montiel, who delivered opening remarks, along with Starr County Campus Faculty & Staff members. Alex Sarabia, STC Psychology Instructor, served as the Master of Ceremonies.  Mr. Gonzalez received a certificate of appreciation for serving as Presenter of this mental health awareness conference.  Eli and Alex Sarabia and the entire psychology club would like to thank everyone who helped in making this event a success.
