South Texas College to hold High School Senior and Parent College Day

South Texas College will be hosting its annual High School and Senior Parent College Day on Saturday, May 20. Students will receive assistance with developing a degree plan, applying for financial aid, and enrolling for summer and fall courses. Students will also have the opportunity to sign up for the First Year Connection Orientation. Jose Galvan is an exceptional student, even among a group of elite students. He is currently projected to become Salutatorian at Progreso ECHS, and is an engineer in the making at South Texas College. Jose’s current list of high school activities includes JROTC Battalion Commander, Varsity Cheer Squad, National Honor Society Member, Varsity Track & Field and Student Council. Ceremonies set for 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday South Texas College will confer nearly 4,000 degrees during its Spring 2017 commencement ceremonies on Friday May 12 and Saturday May 13.  Graduation will take place at the State Farm Arena. South Texas College is looking for the next cohort for its RGV STEM Faculty Institute. Beginning this school year, South Texas College in partnership with Weslaco East High School have begun a unique pilot program aiming to foster a college-ready mindset among dual credit students.
