Los Valientes portrays lives of Hispanic heroes in music theatre

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, South Texas College (STC) is presenting Los Valientes, a chamber music theatre work by the Core Ensemble, on Thursday October 29, at 8:00 p.m. at the Cooper Center for Communication Arts Main Stage. The Cooper Center is located at 3201 W. Pecan, directly across from the STC Pecan Campus in McAllen. Admission is free and open to the public. South Texas College’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month festivities will get underway in mid-September with several campus-wide activities, including the “Pláticas Sol de Aztlan Lecture Series” that will feature several award-winning authors. Ballet Folklórico STC to perform during internationally-televised Mexican Independence Day Grito

South Texas College’s Ballet Folklórico has been around for less than two years, but the group has made quite a reputation for itself. This year, Ballet Folklórico-STC will perform before an internationally-televised audience on Univisión’s Spanish-language television network during the Fiesta de El Grito de Independencia on Sept. 15 at the Texas State Capitol in Austin.
