Grainger donates $6K in tools to South Texas College students

  In an effort to assist deserving students preparing to enter the workforce, Grainger Industrial Supply has supplemented its annual scholarship to students by donating tools to South Texas College. Grainger, a leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products, has donated $6,000 worth of tools that will then be distributed to students through the college. South Texas College receives grant for Competency-Based Bachelor Program

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) awarded South Texas College the Lumina Foundation Grant in the amount of  $10,000. SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in southern states including Texas. The grant is intended to advance South Texas College’s efforts to provide Competency–Based Education (CBE) baccalaureate programs for students. STC Spring Commencement to be held May 11-12

Ceremonies set for Friday and Saturday South Texas College will confer 3482 degrees during its Spring 2018 Commencement Ceremonies on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12.  Graduation will take place at the State Farm Arena. 10th Annual Dual Enrollment Advanced Manufacturing Technology Competition

  The Advanced Manufacturing Technology program hosted its 10th annual Dual Enrollment Advanced Manufacturing Technology Competition on Thursday, April 26, at the Technology campus.  During the competition, students participated in eight categories. Winners were announced along with the 2018 scholarship recipients. At least 20 students received a scholarship  ranging from $500 -$1000 per semester from local major advanced engineering and manufacturing companies. The Business, Public Safety and Technology Division at South Texas College held its Women in Technology event dedicated to promoting careers non-traditionally held by females. STC’s annual IT event brings students together with companies seeking the next generation of highly skilled employees entering the workforce.
