DEMSA alumni heads to medical school
Jose Ayala, an alumni of South Texas College’s Dual Enrollment Medical Science Academy (DEMSA) is headed to medical school. Ayala was accepted into the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston following his official white coat ceremony July 31. Ayala attended STC’s DEMSA two-year program which aids high school juniors and seniors in the RGV who are seriously interested in pursuing a career in health care. The program helps increase the number of rural area students committed to careers and service in Medicine, Pharmacy Dentistry, Nursing, Allied Health, and others. Thanks to STC’s DEMSA program, Ayala is prepared for his career in health care.
