Informational resources available at 7th annual Higher Education Fair

South Texas Colleges Mid Valley Campus will be hosting its 7th annual Pursuing Higher Education Fair Tuesday, April 9th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

South Texas College’s Mid Valley Campus will be hosting its 7th annual Pursuing Higher Education Fair April 9.

The annual event is for current and prospective students, as well as the general public and is dedicated to helping students shape their career pathways. The event will provide students the opportunity to speak with four year institutions as well admissions representatives so they are better informed for their career path and for the future.

Coordinator for the annual event and history instructor at STC, Dr. Rainlilly Elizondo-Weber says the fair is a great way for students to find out more information on pursuing their education.

“We will have various student services present as well as four year institutions present, so if you’re just starting out with STC, it’s a great fair because not only can students find out about admissions and financial aid in one stop, but they can go to another table and find out about the various jobs one can do with a certain major.”

This year’s event will have at least 25 tables meant to help current and prospective students register and learn about services available, as well as assistance with selecting a major or possible careers.

“Those who are close to graduation, will have representatives from four year schools who will be on hand to help, and talk about the process of transferring to their school,” Elizondo said. “Services will be there to let students or potential students know what is available to them and help them get around the college so they will succeed during their time earning a degree.”

The 7th annual Pursuing Higher Education Fair will take place on Tuesday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at STC’s Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco, Building G.
