STC Technology Campus ‘plants the seed’ for local middle schoolers

South Texas College held its first ever “Planting the Seed” event dedicated to middle school boys on April 23. At the event, students visited STC’s Technology Campus and were able to participate in hands-on activities organized by instructors from Welding, Advanced Manufacturing and Computer and Advanced Technologies. In the afternoon, they were able to participate in company tours hosted by Priority Tooling Solutions, Humanetics, and Worldwise, a manufacturer of pet accessories located in McAllen.

Reguladores Motorcycle Club supports STC veterans with annual scholarship

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reguladores Motorcycle Club of the Rio Grande Valley presented a check for $1,000 to the Student Veterans of America - South Texas College Chapter on April 10. Funds will be used for scholarships that will assist student veterans. SVA is comprised of veterans and first responders on campus and has been assisted through continuous support by Reguladores for over six years.

 

Governor's Summer Merit Program grant awarded to STC by Texas Workforce Commission

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hidalgo ISD will be one of the partners in this year’s Governor’s Summer Merit Program funded by Texas Workforce Commission. TWC presented a grant in the amount of $46,552 that will provide funding for a total of fifty freshman and sophomore high school students to participate in a six week South Texas College Texas Pre-Freshman Engineering Program (TexPREP). Participants will develop knowledge and skills by participating in hands-on problem-based learning activities for science, technology, pre-engineering and math.

 

McAllen ISD partners with STC for continuing education certificate in forensic science

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Continuing Technical Education (CTE) at McAllen ISD will partner with STC to offer a continuing education certificate for its forensic science technician course beginning in 2019. McAllen ISD has announced that it will begin incorporating three new certificates to its CTE programs, which are focused on providing academic and technical educational opportunities for students, including rigorous and relevant career preparation. Students in CTE are equipped with 21st century skills that prepare them for a highly competitive global economy.
