STC confers more than 2,000 degrees Dec. 1

Families celebrate their graduation from South Texas College. STC conferred 2,194 degrees in two ceremonies on Dec 1. The college awarded 182 Bachelor’s degrees, 581 degrees from the Business, Public Safety, and Technology Division, and 398 from Nursing and Allied Health. During the afternoon ceremony, STC conferred 872 degrees from the Division of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and 161 graduates from the Division of Math and Sciences.

South Texas College staff and faculty volunteered to serve the troops stationed on the border near Donna for Thanksgiving. Led by STC VP of Enrollment Services Matthew Hebbard, staff assisted in three shifts at Base Camp Donna located between Military Hwy and the Donna International Bridge.

Students hit the books during finals week at South Texas College Dec. 10-13. All STC campuses provided a wide range of resources to make the typically stressful week as comfortable as possible for students. Students at STC’s Mid Valley campus enjoyed a special winter wonderland event organized by Student Activities and Wellness. Students enjoyed two days of ice skating, holiday music, curling, Snowzilla Jr., and a life-sized snow globe as the college officially welcomed the start of the winter season on campus.
