Quick Takes July 2019

The Academies & High School Projects at South Texas College hosted the Governors Summer Merit Program TexPREP Year IV Banquet held at STC’s student union building July 11. More than 50 freshman and sophomore high school students from Weslaco ISD, Hidalgo ISD, PSJA ISD, and Roma ISD participated in this year’s Pre-Freshman Engineering Program (TexPREP), which lasted for six weeks through June and July. Participants developed knowledge and skills by participating in hands-on problem-based learning activities for science, technology, pre-engineering and math. Guest speakers, along with representatives from United Launch Alliance and CodeRGV attended, and spoke on the importance of majoring in STEM fields.
