STC honors service members and first responders on Sept. 11

South Texas College held 9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies at all of its campuses across Hidalgo and Starr Counties. Organized by Student Activities and Wellness, the ceremonies served not only as solemn reminders of the events of 9/11, but also as a way to appreciate the work of law enforcement officers, firefighters, veterans, medical personnel, and first responders.

Held at STC’s Pecan Campus, students within Culinary’s Dining Room course as well as students in the Advanced Food Prep Class were given experience in customer service while working in an active kitchen setting. Attendees were given a specially prepared menu of assorted “savory” or “sweet” creations by the students themselves, including a dish of classic crepes (above).
