Choose from a wide range of courses in western Hidalgo County. Classes begin Jan. 22

South Texas College offers a variety of classes in La Joya meant to put students on successful career pathways.

STC and La Joya ISD have partnered to provide state-of-the-art classrooms for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs and welding workforce training. Students in western Hidalgo County communities are encouraged to register for classes at STC’s HEC campus in La Joya.

Courses in La Joya are not just for high school students, but for non-traditional students as well. The HEC is a beacon for students who are looking to earn a degree closer to home without traveling to STC’s traditional campuses.

More than 40 courses are offered at La Joya’s Higher Education Center (HEC) including courses in Art, Criminal Justice, Math, English, Kinesiology, and Welding. In addition, the campus features upgraded science labs, lecture classrooms, computer labs, and an outdoor welding lab for students.

Registration is available 24/7 via Jagnet and at www.southtexascollege.edu/register/.

Students can register via the college’s mobile app “JagMobile” available on iOS and Android enabled devices. Via the app, students can sign up for mobile alerts, pay for school bills, check bus routes and grades, along with a host of other options.
