STC named second in the nation for enrollment of Hispanic students by Hispanic Outlook Magazine

Numerous programs at STC recognized by HO for awarding degrees to Hispanics

South Texas College (STC) has been ranked second in the nation for total enrollment of Hispanics among two and four-year schools in 2015, according to Hispanic Outlook (HO) on Education Magazine. Of the 34,371 students enrolled at STC, more than 94 percent are Hispanic, according to HO.

The magazine recently published its “Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics” with data collected from the 2015 school year. In that issue, numerous programs at STC placed among the top-10 in schools across the nation for degrees awarded to Hispanics.

All information is derived from 2015 surveys conducted by the National Center for Education Studies. Since 1990, Hispanic Outlook has emerged as an education publication dedicated to exploring issues related to Hispanics on education.

STC is also fourth in the nation for awarding Homeland Security Law Enforcement and Firefighting degrees, ranked sixth for awarding Computer and Information Sciences degrees, seventh in the nation for awarding education degrees, ninth in the nation for awarding legal assistant and paralegal degrees, 10Th   for awarding mathematics and statistics degrees.

STC offers more than 120 degree and certificate program options including associate degrees in art, science, technology and allied health fields. The college also offers 18 online associate degrees and certificate options through South Texas College Online enabling students to earn their degrees without even setting foot on campus.
