STC Pre-Pharmacy Club Visits San Juan Nursing Home

As many of the Rio Grande Valley community faced the effects of historic freezing temperatures and power outages during Winter Storm Uri, South Texas College’s Pre-Pharmacy Club took the initiative to provide resources to a local nursing home.

On February 20, several club members and club sponsor Dr. Reginald C. Gonzales traveled to the San Juan Nursing Home to donate cozy blankets to the entire center’s 80 residents.

“To us, we must help those in need,” said Gonzales. “Many of us can positively impact these individuals and families by supplying assistance to local organizations that support our community.”

The San Juan Nursing Home (SJNH) is a faith-based, not-for-profit corporation under the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville. The San Juan Nursing Home was founded by Fr. Jose M. Aspiazu, OMI, in 1965 and opened its doors to the public in 1966.
