STC Theatre holds auditions for the Cooper Cabaret.

South Texas College (STC) Theatre will hold auditions for their April production – Cooper Cabaret – in celebration of their 10th season. The cabaret is a night celebrating 10 years of theatre and showcasing the local talent who play vital role in their productions.

Auditions will be held Tuesday Feb. 25; Wednesday Feb. 26, Tuesday Mar. 3; and Wednesday Mar. 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the STC Cooper Center for Communication Arts - Black Box Studio, located at 3201 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen. All STC and Rio Grande Valley community members, ages 18 and over are welcome to audition.

“We always approach our productions from a community theatre model where our talent and artisans come from the college as well as the Valley. In our experience, our students learn best when they work with different people with different approaches to the craft,” says Drama Department Chair Joel Jason Rodriguez. “Cooper Cabaret is our way of honoring our founding director Dr. John F. Carroll and celebrating the great work we’ve done the past 10 years by shining the spotlight on the folks who performed in our shows whether they were students, UTPA/UTRGV students, community members, or alumni.”

The Cooper Cabaret will consist of a variety of performance acts. The directors are looking for musicians, singer/songwriters, spoken word poets, comedians, dancers, theatre performers, acoustic bands, or anyone with a special talent.

Those interested in auditioning for Cooper Cabaret are encouraged to call 956-872-2301 to reserve an audition time. Time will also be allotted for walk-ins as well. Those auditioning are encouraged to bring a headshot and resume, but it is not required. Cooper Cabaret is scheduled to run at the STC Cooper Center for Communication Arts Black Box Studio April 30-May 3, 2020.
