STC Theatre to hold auditions for Cyrano

Summary

Open auditions for Cyrano will be held Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Cooper Center’s Black Box Studio.

MCALLEN, TEXAS (November 26, 2019) – South Texas College (STC) Theatre will hold auditions for their February main stage production of Cyrano, adapted by Joe Roets from the play by Edmond Rostand and translated into English by Audrey Van Tuyckom.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3 and Wednesday Dec. 4, from 7 p.m. -10 p.m. at the STC Cooper Center for Communication Arts - Black Box Studio, located at 3201 W. Pecan Blvd. in McAllen.

All STC and Rio Grande Valley community members, ages 18 and over, are welcome to audition.

In Roet’s Cyrano, de Bergerac is a master of swordplay and wordplay, but his magnificent nose blocks his path to true love. From Parisian balconies to bloody battlefields, tongue-tied Christian borrows Cyrano’s words to woo beautiful Roxane – but is she falling for Christian’s looks or Cyrano’s soul? Three actors perform this classic into a fast-paced romance of duels, panache, sacrifice – and an enormous nose. The director is looking for three performers.

Those interested in auditioning for Cyrano are encouraged to bring a headshot and resume, but it is not required. Scenes will be made available at the time of audition. Cyrano is scheduled to run at the STC Cooper Center for Communication Arts Main Stage Theatre Feb. 20-23, 2020.
