Student of the Week: Anthony Greaves

As a recent graduate, Anthony Greaves says South Texas College provided the ideal environment for his academic success.

Greaves, 22, graduated with his associate degree in marketing from South Texas College in May 2018 and now plans to pursue his bachelor degree in the fall.

“I really enjoy studying Business Administration because it opens new opportunities for me to network with new people with different ideas and point of views,” he said. “STC was the right choice for me because it had the classes that best suited my academic needs. In addition, the environment was a place where I could take advantage of the accommodations which were tailored to my learning abilities and pace.”

Greaves is a 2014 graduate from Edinburg North High School. Fostering a life-long love for sports, Anthony says he would like to enter a career in sports broadcasting after college.

“Fellow Jaguars please prepare now by developing discipline because that is the single most important trait you will need for the transition from high school to college,” Anthony said as a message to students. “If you don’t start preparing now, it is going to be rough because college requires a lot of independent thinking and being personally accountable. Also, remember you own your personal development and education not your parents.”

Top three accomplishments:

“I would have to say, getting to work with PR Marketing, Receiving my Marketing Certificate and last but not least having the opportunity to meet a lot of STC Employees/Administrators who were so helpful and kind with supporting me and my educational goals.”

“The last word of advice to students is to use your time wisely because that is the most expensive asset you own, but it doesn’t cost you anything but personal commitment.”
