Moroccan student, focused on defense and cybersecurity goals

Student of the Week: Amjad Fatmi

This choice aligns with my educational goals. From its numerous resources to an inclusive atmosphere, STC offers a lot.

STC Student of the Week Amjad Fatmi

Amjad Fatmi comes to South Texas College from Morocco with a passion for computer science and is on a journey toward an associate degree in the field, a move he calls strategic to acquire the skills needed for meaningful contributions in the technology and network security arena.

The 20-year-old’s enthusiasm lies in defense and cybersecurity, and he envisions himself working on advanced hardware defense systems and exploring artificial intelligence and different vehicles. This interest is fueled by a commitment to addressing challenges in these fields and making a positive impact.

Fatmi’s decision to enroll at STC was influenced by the opportunities and programs presented by the college.

"This choice aligns with my educational goals," emphasized Fatmi. "From its numerous resources to an inclusive atmosphere, STC offers a lot.”

As Fatmi approaches his final semester at STC, he reflects on his rewarding journey filled with a mix of social, leadership, community and academic experiences.

Serving as the president of the International Student Organization, volunteering and making friends have made his college experience a great one, he said.

“I want to engage in extra classes, continue acquiring leadership roles within student organizations and actively contributing to the community through volunteer work. "

For him, STC is more than just a college; it's a place that has transformed his life. Trying local food, enjoying campus life and being part of a supportive community have made STC feel like his home away from home.
