"My father, Joe Acosta, serves in the Border Patrol, and his dedication to his profession has inspired me since I was a child. I always envisioned myself walking the same path as him, but he encouraged me to pursue higher education to broaden my opportunities in the field," Acosta shared.

Introduced to the Criminal Justice program on STC’s website, she found her calling in her instructor Homar Venencia's Introduction to Criminal Justice class.

"Enrolling in Venencia's class was such an important moment for me. His expertise and experiences in the field ignited my passion and provided me with invaluable insights I’ll carry with me," Acosta stated.

With graduation anticipated by the fall semester, Acosta aims to balance her academic pursuits with

extracurricular activities, particularly her role as president of the Criminal Justice Club.

"Leading the Criminal Justice Club for two years now has been a highlight of my college experience. It's been rewarding to contribute to its growth and foster connections within the community," said Acosta.

Motivated by the guidance and support of the Criminal Justice department faculty, Acosta remains focused in her pursuit of excellence.

"The faculty at STC, particularly in the Criminal Justice department, have been so helpful in my academic journey. Their wisdom, encouragement and belief in my potential have propelled me forward," Acosta expressed.

As she looks towards her future, Acosta aspires to join U.S. Customs and Border Protection as a Border Patrol agent, fueled by her passion for safeguarding her community.

Reflecting on her journey, Acosta acknowledges the personal growth she's experienced since high school,

recognizing the importance of accountability and perseverance.

"Though I faced challenges in high school, I've learned from those experiences, and STC has provided me with the opportunity to grow academically and personally," said Acosta.

She extends her gratitude to the Criminal Justice department and the Criminal Justice Club, acknowledging their support and camaraderie throughout her college journey.

"I want to express my gratitude to the Criminal Justice department faculty and the members of the Criminal Justice Club for their unwavering support. Together, we've made a difference, and I'm proud to be part of such a dedicated community," Acosta concluded.
