Student of the Week: Jocelyn Magana

 Jocelyn Magana, 19, is about to complete an associate degree in Business Administration from South Texas College (STC), a career influenced by her family.

"I decided to pursue a degree in Business Administration because I believe it provides me with versatile skills that are applicable across various industries and career paths," Magana shares. "My mother graduated from South Texas College with her associate degree in accounting, which influenced my decision to attend and pursue my degree here.”

 Guided by her personal research and insights from academic advisors, Magana discovered the Business Administration program at STC, setting her on a trajectory towards her aspirations.

 With graduation on the horizon, merely eight weeks away, Magana's gaze extends beyond the present moment, envisioning her transition to Texas A&M to pursue a bachelor's degree, laying the groundwork for her future endeavors.

 Beyond the classroom, a highlight from her recent semester includes participating in STC’s Leadership Academy, where she learned invaluable insights and essential skills.

 “I learned how to be more outgoing by having to interact with more students, and that ultimately allowed me to make new friends,” said Magana.

 Motivated by her dreams of professional success and family pride, Magana remains focused in her pursuit of excellence.

 “I am motivated by my dreams of achieving success in my career and making my family proud," said Magana.

 As she prepares for the next chapter of her academic journey, Magana offers advice to student struggling to finish the semester.

 "Stay focused, stay organized and actively seek out opportunities for growth and development,” she said.

 Magana also acknowledges the transformative impact of the institution.

 “South Texas College has impacted me by providing a supportive learning environment and helping me develop both academically and personally," Magana said.

 While she currently focuses on her academic pursuits, Magana's commitment to community service and volunteerism remains unwavering.

 "One thing I would like to add is that I am passionate about community service and volunteer work," she shares.

 Highlighting her dedication to making a positive impact beyond her academics, Magana remains grounded in her values, poised to make meaningful contributions to her chosen field of business.
