STC student, staff member tests positive for COVID-19

South Texas College is notifying currently enrolled students, faculty and staff regarding two confirmed cases of COVID-19, one at its Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco and another at its Nursing & Allied Health Campus in McAllen.

The person who tested positive at the Mid-Valley campus is a staff member and told administrators he accompanied someone to a testing site and decided to get tested for Coronavirus even though he was asymptomatic.

The second person who tested positive is a student enrolled in a class at the Nursing and Allied Health campus. The student began experiencing symptoms last Thursday and a lab test subsequently confirmed that they were positive for COVID-19. Everyone enrolled in that class has been contacted and will be allowed to finish the course online.
