Washington, D.C.- April 23, 2013-Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced the 11th annual Financial Literacy Day Fair on Capitol Hill will take place on Friday, April 26th. The Financial Literacy Day Fair is instrumental in providing information on financial education provided by federal agencies and private entities. Got Talent! 3 raises funds for Starr County Campus Psychology Club Scholarship

Roma High School choir students Yomara Cortéz and Michelle Guerra won the Got Talent! 3 Talent Show on April 18, 2013 at the South Texas College Starr County Campus Auditorium in Rio Grande City. The duet sang “Ángel” by Mexican artist Yuridia.The winners hold the Got Talent! 3 first place trophy alongside STC Starr County Campus Psychology Club members and advisers Alexandro Sarabia and Eli Sarabia.

Starr County came out and broke a leg at the Got Talent! 3 fundraising event in benefit of the South Texas College Starr County Campus Psychology Club’s 2nd Annual Scholarship, held on April 18, 2013 at the campus in Rio Grande City, where 200 people were dazzled by 21 local performances that raised over $700. “It was a successful event where contestants showcased a variety of talents, from singing and dancing to playing musical instruments,” said STC Psychology Instructor and Psychology Club Adviser Alexandro Sarabia. “The main purpose of the event was to showcase the talent that … Read More …

STC Engineering Club to compete at NASA’s 20th Annual Great Moonbuggy Race

STC Engineering Club students designed a prototype of a Moonbuggy out of spare parts to compete at NASA’s 20th Annual Great Moonbuggy Race at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. from April 25-27.

South Texas College held Transfer Thursday at the Pecan Campus, a STC2UTPA event aimed at educating students about the admission process at the University of Texas-Pan American. Students were given the opportunity to meet with financial aid advisors, apply for admission and sign up for orientation.   In response to Texas House Bill 972: Campus Personal Protection Act, legislation that would allow licensed concealed handguns on campus, South Texas College’s Student Government Association (SGA) found it necessary to voice the opinions of the student body they represent.  By conducting surveys at the Pecan, Mid-Valley and Starr County Campuses, STC’s SGA was able to gauge where the students stand on this piece of legislation that could invariably affect campus life. The South Texas College Starr County Campus Psychology Club will host the third edition of the Got Talent! competition on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the college’s Starr County Campus Auditorium, located at 142 FM 3167 in Rio Grande City. The event is open to the public and will include singers musicians, dancers, models, magicians, comedians, and imitators. Admission is $3 per person and $5 for participants.
