South Texas College 4th annual Dual Credit Update

On Tuesday, April 18th, the Dual2Degree Department will be hosting its 4th Annual Dual Credit Update at the South Texas College Cooper Center from 8:30 am to 12pm.

The annual convening will provide school district administrators and staff with information relating to institutional initiatives designed to improve student success. The event will also serve as a forum for high school partners to provide feedback on the proposed initiatives and to identify areas for possible collaboration between school districts and South Texas College.

The focus of this year’s event will be the development of guided pathways for high school students participating in the College’s Dual Credit Program. In particular, the update will highlight the College’s involvement in the Texas Pathways Project, which will introduce coherent program maps to help students stay on track and complete their degrees more efficiently.

In addition, the Dual2Degree Department will present its Dual Credit Connection and Transition Plan for the 2017-2018 academic year. The plan was developed in an effort to improve the academic success and matriculation of high school students to higher education. The Department will work collaboratively with school districts to improve college readiness of dual credit students through various strategies such as increasing student involvement in student activities, seminars, orientation and expand their awareness and usage of academic support services. The Department will also discuss its plans to introduce a new enrollment model for dual credit students using technology-enhanced advisement and registration.
