South Texas College’s Psychology Club hosts 9th Starr County Mental Health Awareness Conference

The South Texas College (STC) Starr County Campus Psychology Club hosted its Mental Health Awareness Conference on Dec. 7, 2017 for the 9th time.
The conference that is hosted every fall and spring semester is intended to bring awareness to different mental health topics. This season’s conference touched on STC’s Counseling and Student Disability Services.
Department directors and counselors including Santa Pena, Claraly Pena, Perla Pena, and Mara Garcia elaborated on these specific services students can take advantage of. Some of these services include personal counseling, special accommodations for students with disabilities, Title IX rights for pregnant and parenting students and student success workshops.
Over 100 people were in attendance, the conference was open to all STC students and the community, free of charge.
