Starr County Psychology Club recognizes 7th annual scholarship recipient


STC student and Starr County Campus Psychology Club Communications Coordinator (Officer) Cecilia Garza was presented with a Certificate of Recognition for being the 7th Annual Starr County Campus Psychology Club Scholarship Recipient on Wednesday, May 2.

Cecilia will graduate this May from STC with an Associate’s Degree in Psychology.  She has obtained an A in all of her psychological science courses and has exemplified great social and leadership skills that were enhanced throughout the 2017-2018 academic year.

Via the Starr Psych Club, Cecilia was actively involved in community service, fundraisers, conferences and events while balancing employment duties at the local Rio Grande City Dairy Queen.  Cecilia will transfer to the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree followed by a Master’s Degree in the field of Psychology.

Cecilia says would like to one day teach psychology at the college or university level and /or become a school psychologist. To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: be an active member of the Starr Psych Club, graduate from STC in May, and submit the following documentation: application, resume, transcript showing GPA, 500-word essay on applicant’s achievements and professional goals.
